Sr Painter
SUMMARY
Acts a subject matter expert providing skilled craftsmanship as a painter in applying various types of finishes to include the construction, maintenance and repair of building structures, components and systems.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Prepares surfaces for painting. Matches and applies paints, varnishes, shellac enamels and other finishes. Cleans and cares for brushes and other equipment. Paints and refinishes a wide variety of items. Covers woodwork and furniture to protect from paint. Patches sheetrock and/or repair various wall finishes. Inspects completed jobs for compliance with work requests. Coordinates and prioritizes the workflow of other painters. Participates in the development of the "Owners Design Guidelines", project design phases and review processes. Inspects contracted painting work to ensure repairs and installations are compliant. Functions as a point of contact for vendors. Prepares and submits reports. Participates in process improvement initiatives. May precept staff.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Maintain Facility Appearance, Functionality and Safety
•Performs skilled painting of facilities, buildings and equipment. Patch by scraping, floating, sanding and sizing surfaces in preparation for painting. Mix, match and apply paints, varnishes, shellac enamels, and other finishes. Paint and refinish a wide variety of surfaces.
•Ensure that MDACC standard colors are utilized when painting facilities. Maintain color specification booklet for RAF South Campus.
•Erects or rigs scaffolds; uses stilts. Cover woodwork and furniture to protect it from paint spills. Remove spattered paint after job is complete. Unload and move supplies and equipment to and from the job location.
•Respond to client, critical, and facility equipment alarms, code reds, etc.
•Cleans assigned areas.
Reduce Operating Costs and Maintain O&M Warehouse Inventory
• Clean and care for brushes, rollers, spray guns and other equipment. Understand the use of all hand and shop tools of the trade.
• Specify and order particular paints, colors, painting supplies, tools, and materials needed to conduct daily activities.
Increase Customer Focus and Satisfaction
• Coordinates contractor painting and ensures completed vendor work meets MDA standards.
•Talk with Clients to determine what work needs to be completed and the feasibility of the job.
• Respond quickly to Client “Dispatch” work order requests for a variety of tasks.
• Complete all required paperwork – timesheets, activity logs, etc.
Maintain an Efficient Response to Work Orders and Reduce/Balance Workload for Other Shops
• Performs installation of locks and door closures, rough concrete laying, patch plastering, carpet and floor maintenance, installs ceiling tiles and grids, troubleshoots, etc.
• Perform carpentry tasks such as construction, repair and maintenance of wood structures and articles.
Other duties as assigned.
Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Five year's of painting experience
