Grants and Contracts Analyst
MD Anderson Cancer Center is a leading institution focused on cancer care, research, education, and prevention. The Grants & Contracts Analyst position is part of the MD Anderson Grants & Contracts Office, which manages post-award financial administration and compliance for sponsored projects. This role ensures adherence to federal, sponsor, and institutional regulations while supporting award management, financial oversight, and agreement processes.
The Grants & Contracts Analyst will work closely with Principal Investigators, department administrators, and sponsors to resolve complex issues and provide exceptional customer service. This position requires expertise in financial and non-financial compliance and the ability to guide junior staff in operational activities.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sponsored programs management, with experience in financial administration, award monitoring, and compliance. Preferred qualifications include advanced knowledge of effort reporting, research administration, and experience with complex analytical tasks in a research or healthcare setting. The work schedule is Monday - Friday 8am -5pm(Hybrid/Onsite).

Responsibilities
Award Management • Monitor sponsored award spending for allowability and compliance with federal and sponsor regulations
• Manage payroll and sponsored project effort
• Prepare required financial and accounting reports to sponsors
• Perform financial and non-financial closeout according to institutional policy
• Support institutional audit engagement and response

Financial Management • Generate monthly standard invoices and monitor cash payments
• Process monthly Letter of Credit draws and related reporting
• Manage cash balances and sponsored project lockboxes
• Clear accounts and perform collection and cash management duties

Data & Agreement Management • Perform account set-up and ensure accurate data capture in post-award systems
• Review subrecipient entities for risk assessment and execute subaward agreements
• Prepare and distribute operational reports and metrics for internal and external audiences

Customer Service & Compliance • Collaborate with Principal Investigators, departments, and sponsors to resolve complex issues
• Provide assistance to outside agencies in ongoing administration of grants and contracts
• Stay current on sponsor requirements, institutional policies, and regulations
• Guide junior staff on troubleshooting operational issues

REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION
- Required: Bachelor's Degree
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Required: 2 years Business experience to include administration, data analysis or accounting. or
- Required: May substitute required experience with additional years of education on a one to one year basis.
- Preferred: Analytical skills, effort reporting, and research administration
