Seeking an experienced Financial Analyst to join The General Oncology department. Our team provides outpatient consults, inpatient services as well as the following programs: Houston-area locations in League City, Sugar Land, West Houston, The Woodlands, Galveston and Lyndon B. Johnson Medical Oncology. Our goal is to make distinct and groundbreaking contributions to patient care, research, and education through robust programs that are focused on a broad mix of cancer patients in a variety of settings.

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in finance or accounting, with healthcare finance experience strongly preferred. They should demonstrate solid knowledge of budgeting and provider productivity, fund types and groups, effort allocation, and charge capture. Success in this role requires proactive communication skills and the ability to navigate complex financial workflows with accuracy and clarity. The schedule for this position is Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm.

KEY FUNCTIONS
Financial Management and Account Reconciliation: 
•    Responsible for reviewing and validating revenue and finance data for both business and development purposes for all sections within the department (Houston-area locations, Inpatient Consult Service, and Oncology Program and LBJ Hospital). 
•    Performs high level analysis of the department’s revenue and financial performance in collaboration with department administrator and chairperson. 
•    Prepares/analyzes/reviews financial reports and monitors budget, revenue and expenditures for the department. 
•    Oversees the monthly reconciliation process. 
•    Manages funds and fund allocation across multiple projects and reports appropriately. 
•    Perform ePAF tasks for funding change or projects 
•    Perform the duties of Effort Coordinator for the department and work with PIs in the quarterly effort certification process.

Grants and Contracts Management: 
•    Manages the department’s financial files for some grant and donor funding. 
•    Works directly with the Department Administrator to compile information regarding the reconciliations of expenses on the grants and donor funds. 
•    Assembles comprehensive review of program awards and expenses based on GL download. 
•    Oversees review and reconciliation of research grants monthly to verify accuracy, resolve errors, and ensure adherence with institution, state, and federal regulations. 
•    Manages to ensure correct and timely salary allocation on all assigned grants and contracts. 
•    Performs audit review of grant payment status as requested.

Annual Budget and Forecasting: 
•    Conduct routine planning for Forecast and Budget activities with the Department Administrator.  
•    Collaborate with the Department Administrator to plan and execute the annual revenue and expense budget process.  
•    Oversee the routine reporting of budget, expense and margin activity as required for reporting purposed.  

Operational Reporting: 
•    Conducts highly advanced analysis of operational and financial information. 
•    Perform top level analysis for revenue forecast and budget reports, as well as interim and ad hoc reviews for specific providers or other purposes. 
•    Analyzes charge activity to billed activity and expedite charge correction and /or investigation. 
•    Prepares monthly reports ensuring information ties to all relevant institutional systems.  
•    Generates, distributes, collects, and reviews monthly variance reports. Provides executive summaries upon request. 
•    Generates quarterly UCF reports for distribution to the faculty. 
•    Stays current on training for all institutional systems related to business operations reporting such as Peoplesoft, Epic, Hyperion, OBIEE, etc. 

EDUCATION

  • Required: Bachelor's Degree Business Administration or related business specialty.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in finance or accounting.

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Required: 2 years Business experience to include project management, data analysis or accounting.
  • Preferred: Prior healthcare finance experience.
