The Grants & Contracts Analyst plays a key role within the MD Anderson Cancer Center Grants & Contracts Office (G&C), supporting post-award administration activities for sponsored projects across the institution. As part of the Grants & Contracts Analyst team, this role focuses on award management by ensuring financial and non-financial compliance with federal, state, sponsor, and institutional requirements while providing subject-matter expertise for both basic and complex post-award tasks.

The Grants & Contracts Analyst contributes directly to the success of sponsored programs through accurate analysis, compliance oversight, and responsive partnership.


The ideal candidate for the Grants & Contracts Analyst role has a bachelor’s degree and at least two years of business experience involving administration, data analysis, or accounting, with the ability to manage complex post-award activities, interpret regulations, and provide reliable guidance to stakeholders while maintaining a strong customer service mindset.


Minimum $37.26 – Midpoint $46.63 – Maximum $56.01 per hour, based on a 40-hour work week.
The typical work schedule is Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm.
Work location: Remote but must be able to attend quarterly meetings onsite.

Responsibilities
• Perform complex analytical activities to ensure compliance with accounting principles, sponsor requirements, federal and state guidelines, and institutional policies.
• Monitor sponsored award spending for allowability and compliance with federal and sponsor regulations.
• Manage payroll and sponsored project effort in alignment with award requirements.
• Prepare required financial and accounting reports for sponsors.
• Complete sponsored project financial and non-financial closeout in accordance with institutional policy and good accounting practices.
• Support institutional audit engagement and response activities related to sponsored programs.
• Collaborate with Principal Investigators, division and department administrators, and sponsors to resolve complex sponsored programs issues.
• Provide customer service assistance to outside agencies involved in grant and contract administration.
• Stay current on sponsor requirements, institutional policies, and regulatory changes, and proactively share updates with team members.
• Assist junior-level staff by troubleshooting operational issues and providing subject-matter guidance on sponsored programs management.

EDUCATION

  • Required: Bachelor's Degree

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Required: 2 years Business experience to include administration, data analysis, or accounting. or
  • Required: May substitute required education with additional years of experience on a one to one year basis.
  • Preferred: At least 2 years of post-award experience, PeopleSoft ERP, and Grants Module.
