The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is conducting a national search for Chair of the Department of Breast Radiation Oncology. The Chair will establish a transformative vision for the department, guide the development of faculty, and oversee all operations related to the department. The successful candidate will be an accomplished academician and experienced leader. The Department of Breast Radiation Oncology is part of the Division of Radiation Oncology, with the Chair reporting to the Division Head of Radiation Oncology.

The Chair of Breast Radiation Oncology will be responsible for leading a nationally recognized department. The Chair will also provide oversight for the multidisciplinary care of breast cancer patients.  The clinical facilities of MD Anderson incorporate the most advanced radiotherapy and imaging technologies, including photon therapy, proton therapy, MR-guided radiotherapy, stereotactic radiotherapy, and brachytherapy. The department supports a comprehensive breast radiation therapy service at the Texas Medical Center and our Houston-area locations.  The Breast Radiation Oncology Department is led by faculty physicians and scientists who have robust, extramurally funded research programs that encompass basic, translational, and clinical research initiatives. The faculty serve as Principal Investigators in clinical trials at MD Anderson and across our Cancer Network.

The Chair is responsible for providing leadership and assumes full responsibility for all areas of the department, including, finances and budgeting, patient care operations, integration of educational programs, and faculty recruitment and retention. The Chair advances career development opportunities and mentorship for department faculty and trainees, as well as fosters a positive work environment that emphasizes excellence in patient care and research via collaboration, collegiality, and wellness for all.  

The Chair will represent the department at local, regional, national and international platforms.

Qualifications

·         10 years of experience post clinical degree

·         M.D. or equivalent degree

·         Board certification by the American Board of Radiology in Radiation Oncology

·         Eligible for unrestricted Texas medical licensure

·         Demonstration of clinical excellence and performance

·         Administrative experience at a departmental or institutional level

·         Proven track record of successful and independent clinical or translational research and grant or protocol funding

·         Consistent record of contributions to education or training and to mentoring of trainees, faculty, or staff

·         Progressive leadership experience in an academic setting, preferred experience in an oncologic setting

·         Ability to function effectively in a matrix organization characterized by complex intra- and inter- disciplinary relationships
