The Head and Neck Center at MD Anderson Cancer Center is one of the world’s leading programs for the diagnosis, treatment, and recovery of patients with head and neck cancers. It brings together a team of specialists, who focus exclusively on cancers and benign tumors of the head and neck, delivering comprehensive and highly specialized care.

As a Dental Assistant II, you’ll be an essential part of our dental care team—ensuring patients feel at ease and that procedures run smoothly and efficiently. You will use your technical skills and clinical knowledge to maintain a safe environment, assist with dental procedures, and keep daily operations organized and productive.

The working hours for this position will be Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm. 

Hourly Breakdown of salary range: Minimum $20.67 - Midpoint $25.96 - Maximum $31.25

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient and Procedure Support: Prepare patients and procedure areas for dental exams and treatments following established dental practice standards and safety protocols.
  • Instrument and Equipment Maintenance: Clean, sterilize, and prepare dental instruments and operatories in accordance with institutional and departmental guidelines. Maintain and transport equipment as needed, and coordinate repairs promptly.
  • Chairside Assistance: Support dentists and hygienists during a full range of chairside procedures, ensuring precision, efficiency, and patient comfort.
  • Operational Efficiency: Demonstrate initiative and resourcefulness by maintaining productivity and cost-effectiveness while ensuring top-quality patient care.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with dentists, hygienists, and other Dental Assistant II team members to deliver seamless patient care and a positive clinical experience.
  • Communication: Use professional, respectful communication when interacting with patients and colleagues. Accept feedback constructively and follow all institutional and departmental policies.
  • Professional Growth: Stay current with training, certifications, and continuing education. Participate in in-services and departmental meetings to enhance skills and promote team growth.
  • Adaptability: Remain calm and focused during busy or emergency situations, maintaining professionalism and patient safety at all times.

Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support clinic or departmental goals.

EDUCATION

Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required: One year as a dental assistant.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

RDA - Reg Dental Assistant Texas State Board of Dental Examiners. 

BLS - Basic Life Support American Heart Association (AHA).
