EDUCATION
Required: High school diploma or equivalent with a certificate from an approved Ultrasound Sonography Program or a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) approved Radiologic Technology Program.
Preferred: Bachelor in Science from a JRCERT program in Diagnostic Imaging or Radiologic Technology such as Bachelor Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (BS OMS)
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
Required: All of the following:
- Certified by at least one of the following: ARDMS or ARRT Sonography (S)
- or ARRT Vascular Sonography (VS) or Registry Eligible
Registry Eligible:
- Within 24 months of graduation from an Ultrasound or Radiologic Technology Program, registry eligible candidates must obtain full certification from ARDMS or ARRT (S) or ARRT (VS). Failure to obtain full registration will result in termination of employment or
- With 6 months of experience as a Registered Radiologic Technologist at UTMDACC. Failure to obtain certification through ARDMS or ARRT (S) or ARRT (VS) within 24 months from start of cross-training will result in termination of employment
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiography credentials.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)/ CPR
- Failure to maintain certification will result in disciplinary action including termination of employment
Preferred: ARDMS certified with the Breast Registry
EXPERIENCE
Required: No experience required with graduation from an approved program of ultrasound technology less than 24 months ago or graduation from an approved program of radiologic technology and six months of experience as a registered radiologic technologist at MDACC.
Preferred: Two years experience in Sonography
