Stores Clerk - Dining Services
The Stores Clerk position in the department of Dining Services at MD Anderson Cancer Center in the Texas Medical Center physically receives food & materials for the dining venues across our campus. The position will be responsible for dispensing stock orders, receiving, inspecting, and storing of all food and materials so that these supplies are stored systematically & disbursed efficiently in the kitchen area storage locations. The position also inspects incoming merchandise for conformity to original order with an emphasis on high quality of products.
The ideal candidate will have experience in warehouse, inventory, receiving, and/or stocking. A valid Texas driver’s license with a clear driving record is required.
The primary shift for this role will be 8am-4:30pm Monday-Friday, with rotating weekends or holidays required. Hour of operation are 6am-5pm, and the stores clerk will be required to move to different shifts as operations require.
Hourly breakdown of salary range:
Minimum $18.00 - Midpoint $20.54 - Maximum $23.08

Dining Services offers eight unique dining venues spread across the Texas Medical Center, an exceptional on-sight catering department, and two coffee bars located in The Woodlands and West Houston. JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:
Production:
Ensures timely and accurate delivery times. Responsible for ordering products and inventorying based on established pars to ensure adequate supplies for meal assembly. Responsible for maintaining shelf to sheet inventory by placing products in the correct areas. Performs accurate monthly inventory. Rotates products using first in, first out (FiFo) inventory rotation. Fills and delivers internal requests for products and supplies. Verifies the quality of products by touching, smelling, feeling, and seeing each product of random selections. Check expiration dates for incoming goods.
Communication:
Communicates issues with ordered goods, shortages, estimated delivery of special-order products to department management. Learns the CBORD data entry of orders to be used for e-receiving process and other FSS CBORD applications. Alert management staff to changes with supplies 86 items.
Safety & Sanitation:
Monitors for proper food handling and sanitation practices. Practices proper lifting techniques using carts or asking for assistance with heavy loads. Ability to maintain daily critical control points in respective areas under HACCP guidelines. Taking & documenting refrigeration, freezer, holding and stores temperatures. Wearing all applicable PPE including but not limited to gloves, cutting glove, non-slip safety shoes, burn sleeves, masks, back braces, heavy coats, heavy-duty cleaning aprons or gloves. Properly labeling all prepared and foods stored outside of its original packaging with date of production, expiration date, and employee’s initials. Practice safe work habits at all times to avoid injury to self and others.
May be moved to new locations and/or shifts as operations dictate. Cross training may also involve shift changes.
EDUCATION:
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Preferred: Experience in warehouse, inventory, receiving, and/or stocking is required.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Required: Valid Texas driver’s license at time of hire and Texas Food Handlers Certification within 30 days of start date.
