Sr Pest Control Technician
Work Schedule: 4 - 10 hour shifts. (6:30 am—5:00 pm), with one day being either Saturday or Sunday. (One weekend day will be mandatory).
Initial training the work schedule will be Monday – Friday 6:30 AM -3:00 PM.
Ideal candidate will have Commercial, Hospital, Exterior Rodent Exclusion experience and will hold a current technician license from the Texas Department of Agriculture in the pest category.
SUMMARY
The primary purpose of the Senior Pest Control position is to provide professional skills in the use, storage, maintenance and disposal of all pesticides in the care of the facilities and grounds within M. D. Anderson Cancer Center.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Inspects facilities and recommends proper treatment based on pest habits, fumigants, rodenticides, insecticides and the structural conditions of the building. Uses common safety factors relative to the use of pesticides involving both personal protection, protecting self and others and environment protection. Utilizes knowledge of first-aid procedures in the event of pesticide accident. Formulates pest control procedures and policies. Maintains records of pesticides used, dosage, time and places of application. Prepares periodic reports of departmental work and procedures. Mixes and sprays chemical solutions or toxic gases. Determines proper proportions for various methods of extermination within a variety of specialized/sensitive areas of the institution. Sets mechanical traps and baits in areas as necessary. Inspects and follows-up on service concerns relative to pest control. Attends to emergency pest infestations.

Facility Inspections Oversee visual inspections of facilities and grounds and address customer service calls - evaluation, recommendation, and treatment. Follows up with clients by site visits, calls and email to ensure needs are met. Responds to priorities swiftly and in a manner that assures the client that Campus Services will be attending to their issue in a competent and professional manner.
Safety Provide proper handling and storage of pesticides and pest control devises. Use common safety factors involving both personal protection, protecting self and others, and environmental protection. Comply with associated policies and regulations
Team and Work Load Support Supports or performs other work as necessary in the management of the work load.
On-Call The employee may be expected to be part of an on-call group, and when assigned this responsibility, will be compensated for that time. When on-call, the employee must be available and be able to respond in accordance to policy. Periods of alert when Emergency Conditions may be expected are not considered on-call.
Essential Personnel This position is considered “essential personnel” in the event of suspension of normal operations due to inclement weather or other emergencies. They are required to perform duties as outlined in the Emergency Management Plans.
Incidental Work Other incidental or related duties as required.
Other duties as assigned
Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Five years of commercial experience in pest control services.
Preferred: Current certified applicators license in pest categories from the Texas Structural Pest Control Board.
