Sr Cashier - Dining Services
The Sr Cashier in the department of Dining Services at MD Anderson Cancer Center in the Texas Medical Center performs monetary transactions and customer service. Impacts cashier transactions, cash security, and the customer experience with food and dining.
The ideal candidate will have at least two years of high-volume cashiering experience.
The hours for this position will be 9am-5:30pm, with rotating weekends and holidays required. The hours of operation for the venue are 5am-10:30pm, and the position may require being moved to different venues or shifts within MD Anderson as operations and cross training dictate.
Hourly breakdown of salary range:
Minimum $19.23 - Midpoint $22.12 - Maximum $25.00

Dining Services at MD Anderson offers eight unique dining venues spread across the Texas Medical Center, an exceptional on-sight catering department, and two coffee bars located in The Woodlands and West Houston. JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:
Cash Handling:
Verifies assigned bank is correct and sets up register. Performs cash handling transactions in accordance with institutional and departmental guidelines. Checks out each customer by checking employee ID’s, examining items on trays and properly charging for them. Provides each customer with an error free register tally of the total meal transaction. Gives each customer a receipt and correct change. Prepares and verifies daily sales totals with supervisor and deposits money at end of shift. May verify daily sales totals of Cashiers in absence of other supervisory personnel.
Customer service / Supervisory:
Exhibits good guest relation skills with patients, visitors, employees, and managers. May prepare and serve beverages and food items. Maintains a high level of professionalism through cooperation and receptiveness to others. Offers assistance to patients, visitors, and staff of all ages, races, cultural backgrounds, beliefs, and disease processes. May train new employees as assigned by management. Updates Micros 3700 PC to correspond w/appropriate day in the menu cycle. Checks daily touch-screen setup on POS and adds any needed items. Updates paper menus and ensures paper menus and daily menu strips are posted. On weekends, ensures all areas of the food service venues open on time. Prints daily sushi sales report. Monitors cashier breaks and workstations. Notifies management of all weekend call outs. Completes cashier audits due at end of month. Checks daily for all cashier change orders. Trains new cashiers.
Inventory Management/Sanitation and Safety:
Maintains a well-stocked area by replenishing condiments, food items, trays, plastic-ware, and napkins as needed. Performs inventory as directed. Places daily unit orders for the venue, as directed. Maintains a safe and sanitary work area by disposing of clutter around register area; cleaning counter tops frequently and keeping work area free of personal belongings. Maintains a safe and sanitary work area in the vault room.
EDUCATION:
Required: High school graduate or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Two years cashiering experience in a high-volume retail or hospitality business.
OTHER:
Must obtain a current Texas Food Handlers Certification within 30 days of entry into job.
