Senior Research Assistant - Next Gen Sequencing, Genomic Assays
Summary
Key Function:
Lab Duties: (40%)
Dissociate human tissue samples and prepare them for NGS compatible experiments
Sequencing library preparations
Imaging techniques and flow cytometry
Performs cell culture work
Record Keeping/Data Management: (20%)
Assists with administrative responsibilities associated with collecting human tissue samples
Maintains records of human samples received, data produced and their location
General Lab organization & Lab Safety: (40%)
Aids and supports the PI in all their research and laboratory efforts
Places orders for reagents, equipment, and other items as needed
Train new members in research procedures and in the use of laboratory equipment
Participate and help other lab members with ongoing projects in the lab
Assist with preparation of grant applications and progress reports
Assists with the maintenance of laboratory equipment and the overall organization of the lab
Constructs, assembles and operates laboratory apparatus and equipment
Maintains lab safety and organization
Other duties as assigned
Education:
Required: Bachelor's degree in one of the natural sciences or related field.
Preferred: With preferred degree, one year of required experience.
Experience:
Required: Three years of experience in scientific or experimental research work.
Preferred: Previous experience with molecular biology, next-generation sequencing, human tissue processing, and genomic assays
