The Senior Physical Therapist at MD Anderson Cancer Center provides direct, professional physical therapy services to hospital and clinical patients. This role has a significant impact on patient treatment, recovery, mobility, and functional outcomes by delivering evidence based interventions that restore movement, relieve pain, promote healing, prevent disability, and support adaptation to permanent physical limitations when needed.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s or advanced degree from an accredited School of Physical Therapy and three years of experience as a Physical Therapist, including three years of experience in an acute care setting, preferably oncology. The candidate must hold a current Texas Physical Therapy license and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification. An advanced degree in Physical Therapy or a related field is preferred.

Rehabilitation Services at MD Anderson Cancer Center supports patients across all cancer types and age groups, focusing on optimizing mobility, functional independence, strength, endurance, and overall quality of life. Senior Physical Therapists collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and the interdisciplinary care team to deliver comprehensive oncology focused rehabilitation services.

Hourly breakdown of salary range:
Minimum $48.56 | Midpoint $60.82 | Maximum $73.08

Essential Job Functions:
• Conduct patient consultation, evaluation, program planning, and treatment to restore mobility, increase strength, relieve pain, promote healing, prevent disability, and facilitate adaptation to permanent physical impairment
• Review patient referrals and medical records to support treatment planning
• Contribute to performance improvement and quality management initiatives
• Participate in patient, family, and student education
• Assist with orientation of new employees and volunteers
• Contribute to staff development and community education by presenting in service programs or community education sessions
• Participate in cross training by demonstrating competency in at least two service areas or through attainment of specialty certification
• Other duties as assigned

Education Required: Bachelor’s or advanced degree from an accredited School of Physical Therapy
Education Preferred: Advanced degree in Physical Therapy or related field
Experience Required: Three years of experience as a Physical Therapist in an acute care setting, preferably oncology
Licensure/Certification Required: Current Texas Physical Therapy license issued by the Executive Council of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Examiners; Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
