Summary:

Ideal candidate will have High School Diploma and 2 years of Pharmacy Technician experience in a retail, infusion or hospital setting. Highly Prefer at least one year of Inpatient experience
Current Pharmacy Technician Registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP)

1. Medication Preparation and Distribution
a. Accurately and efficiently fill cart fill and first doses
b. Accurately and efficiently pull medications to refill controlled access cabinets
c. Accurately and efficiently deliver medications/supplies to designated areas
d. Accurately and efficiently prepare all types of sterile products including SVP, LVP, chemotherapy, biotherapy and investigational agents
e. Accurately and efficiently prepare high-risk sterile products
f. Accurately and efficiently prepare extemporaneous compounds
g. Accurately and efficiently repackaging bulk medications
2. Demonstrates proficiency in two or more specialized areas of expertise meeting accuracy and productivity standards

3. Inventory Management
a. Accurately and efficiently order medications and supplies
b. Accurately and efficiently receive/restock medications and supplies
c. Accurately and efficiently complete cycle counts and inventory audits
d. Outdate expired or soon to expire medications in a timely manner
e. Ensure medication security and accountability at all times
f. Monitors area inventory and supplies, notifies appropriate personnel when shortages and/or outages noted.

Qualifications - External
Education
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Certificate from an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program or 2 years of college credit.
License/Certification
Required: Current Pharmacy Technician Registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP).
Preferred: Current Certification with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). Current Intravenous Medication Certification (IV-Sterile Products) approved by the Accreditation Counsel for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).
Experience
Required: Two years pharmacy technician experience in a hospital, infusion center, or retail pharmacy.
Preferred: Experience in hazardous sterile compounding, high risk sterile compounding, nonsterile compounding, inventory management, and Pharmacy employee training. Experience in OR, critical care, pediatrics, ordering/receiving medications, and controlled substances.
