Senior Pharmacy Technician
Sr. Pharmacy Technician - Woodlands Location
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
The primary purpose of the Senior Pharmacy Technician is to maintain an area of expertise providing technical assistance and structure to the area of responsibility. Assist with inventory maintenance and production of commercial and investigational IV admixtures on a regular basis and upon absences, emergencies and vacancies. Collaborate with other technicians and assistant managers enforcing standard operating procedures, USP 797/800 standards, NIOSH recommendations and all other duties as assigned.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Sterile Compounding/Preparation a. Follows standard operating procedures/safety standards (USP 797/800/NIOSH) when handling, preparing, and waste disposal of hazardous drugs. Reports and documents chemotherapy spills. b. Demonstrates the correct use of a closed system and maintains competency. c. Prepares investigational doses by reading the datasheet, follow protocol directions, care when admixing, documenting thoroughly on the investigational card for each drug. Ask for assistance from a pharmacist if needed. d. Demonstrates strong math skills for pharmacy calculations. e. Manages time efficiently by maintaining high productivity. f. Demonstrates system proficiency including, but not limited to, BD Cato, Phacts, One Connect, and control access cabinets. g. Manages inventory through supply chain.
Inventory Management a. Monitors key inventory parameters to evaluate inventory usage including stock levels, shortages, and recalls. Takes appropriate actions and makes inventory adjustments as needed. b. Develops, implements, and documents procedures related to receiving, shipping, transfers, returns of inventory, physical counts, ongoing cycle counts and loss prevention. c. Coordinates with appropriate supplier for acquisition and distribution of drugs/supplies, identified as supply problems. Communications drug availability to staff. d. Communicates with other inventory areas to minimize waste. e. Maintains inventory security within the pharmacy area and monitors for appropriate use of all institutional resources. f. Approach problems with curiosity and open-mindedness; offer new ideas, solutions and/or options. g. Follows standard operating procedures/safety standards (USP 797/800, NIOSH) when handling and wasting of hazardous drugs. Reports and documents chemotherapy spills h. Completes pump assignments including replenishment, returns, cleaning and periodic maintenance (PM) monitoring (within 95% compliance). i. Restocks, loads, unloads and outdates automated dispensing cabinet inventory consistently and accurately. Provide floor stock inventory as needed.IV Preparation
Daily Operational Duties a. Equipment maintenance, including BSC cleaning, stocking supplies, pump retrieval, scheduled QA assignments, cleaning of IV rooms and ante-room, inventory ordering, pyxis support as needed, and water bath and baxa repeater pump cleaning. b. Demonstrates technical proficiency and problem solving of carousel software, automated dispensing cabinets, BD CATO, OneConnect, procurement software, label printers and refrigerator monitoring, and other systems as needed. c. Successfully completes annual process validations as appropriate. d. Completes and maintains Tech-Check-Tech certification program as applicable. e. Optimizes patient care and customer service by fulfilling all required operational responsibilities including staffing beyond shift as needed to complete all team assignments. f. Ability to flex schedule across areas and shifts based on operational needs.

REQUIREMENTS
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Education: Certificate from an accredited Pharmacy Technician Program.
Certification: Current Pharmacy Technician Registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP), with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
Preferred Certification: ACPE Sterile Products Certification
Experience: Two years experience as a Pharmacy Technician in an Infusion, Hospital or Retail setting.
Preferred Experience: IV sterile preparation experience, ACPE IV Sterile Products Competency, Pharmacy experience training staff and experience in a leadership role
Onsite Presence: Is Required
This position may be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, as defined in Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code and therefore may require routine reviews and screening. The ability to satisfy and maintain all requirements necessary to ensure the continued security and integrity of such infrastructure is a condition of hire and continued employment.
