Senior Maintenance Technician
Patient Care and Prevention Facilities (PC&PF) is fundamental to the daily operations of MD Anderson Cancer Center. This department ensures all of the hospital's facilities are safe, operational, and compliant with accreditation standards. It fosters an environment of growth and professional development by cultivating the skills necessary to oversee the vital maintenance operations needed throughout the institution. PC&PF also plays a longitudinal role for the institution in overseeing the construction of new facilities and the modernization of existing buildings through new software and monitoring initiatives. All of this makes PC&PF a vital and integral department in delivering world class cancer care to patients.
Repair and maintain building and utility equipment, respond to customer calls, provide support to emergencies, subject matter expert, provide leadership and critical thinking.
The work schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 3pm-11:30pm.
The salary range is $57,500 - $72,000 - $86,500.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Maintain, Repair, Troubleshoot Lead or under limited supervision performs repairs, troubleshooting, routes and preventative maintenance on various equipment, buildings, and utility systems using one or more craft trade skills. Maintains records of materials, jobs, and other pertinent information. Responds to and triages critical equipment alarms and makes repairs as necessary.
1. Applies general craft knowledge and skills by following work instructions to:
a) Repair or replace ceiling grids and tiles.
b) HVAC initial response for hot/cold calls, odors, exhaust issues, repair or replace equipment, etc.
c) Plumbing initial response to unclog water closets, sinks, shut off fixture stops, use sewer machines on floor drains, replace faucets, valves and fixtures, etc.
d) Electrical tasks such as clean/replace light diffusers, replace lamps and ballasts, switches and receptacles, etc.
e) Assist with preventive maintenance as required by the assigned tasks.
2. Notify management of all recognized equipment repairs.
3. Clean and maintain equipment and work areas.
4. Engage in collaborative efforts by team members from all craft shops to resolve problems and repair/upgrade deficiencies in the utility systems.
5. Communicate with team members to identify needs for improvement.
6. Repair and maintain utility systems equipment, such as, pumps, valves, steam systems, vacuum pumps, compressors, water softeners and heat exchangers.
7. Water quality analysis and/or recording of data
8. Manage all assigned work orders to be completed as per schedules.
9. All completed work meets professional standards of cleanliness, maintenance and safety in accordance with work instructions
10. Other duties as assigned
Respond to customer calls and provide customer services.
Communicate on an ongoing basis with customers and clients to determine current status of deliverables and to learn about customer needs.
Report and document.
Provide complete information to accurately document corrective action, labor hours, and materials used on work orders.
Timely communication to supervisor of any other issues encountered during the performance of work.
Subject Matter Expert
Coordinates regulatory inspections by external agencies. Coordinates work. May order materials and maintain inventory. Participates in the development of the "Owners Design Guidelines", project design phases and review processes. Inspects contracted work to ensure repairs and installations are compliant. Functions as a point of contact for vendors. Prepares and submits reports. Participates in process improvement initiatives. May precept staff. Investigates outages.
Interprets and works from instructions, blueprints, sketches and diagrams in the installation of utility systems.
Emergency responses
Emergency responses for facilities including code red alarms

EDUCATION
- Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Preferred: Associate's Degree Technical or Trade school
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Required: Five years Experience in one or more crafts (i.e. plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, HVAC, instrumentation).
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Preferred: Journeyman Electrician
- Preferred: Journeyman Plumber
- Preferred: Stationary Engineer License 1st Grade
- Preferred: Stationary Engineer License 2nd Grade
