Senior Electrician

The ideal candidate has strong system‑level thinking and advanced troubleshooting abilities across BAS and HVAC environments. They are proficient with advanced diagnostic tools, including thermal imaging, and can effectively coach and train electricians to elevate team capability. This individual understands how HVAC, plumbing, and other trades interact and can coordinate work across disciplines to ensure efficient, reliable facility operations. Proficient in using advanced diagnostic tools, including thermal imaging, to identify electrical issues, and able to understand how HVAC and plumbing trades interact to support effective coordination and troubleshooting.
The salary range is $69,000 - $86,000 - $103,000
The work schedule is Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm

SUMMARY The primary purpose of the Senior Electrician position is to provide skilled electrical work of the journeyman level in installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, fixtures, and equipment. This position impacts the Institution's electrical functionality. Responsible for carrying out skilled tasks in accordance with standard practices of the trade and Institutional specifications. Oversees the quality and production of all electrical work.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Interprets and works from instructions, blueprints, sketches and diagrams in the installation of electrical systems. Estimates cost of work, requisitions material and maintains inventories. Performs a variety of electrical work. Coordinates and prioritizes the workflow of electricians, technicians and mechanics. Investigates outages. Participates in the development of the "Owners Design Guidelines", project design phases and review processes. Inspects contracted electrical work to ensure repairs and installations are compliant. Functions as a point of contact for vendors. Prepares and submits reports. Participates in process improvement initiatives. May precept staff.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Trade SME Participates in the development of the "Owners Design Guidelines", project design phases and review processes. Inspects contracted electrical work to ensure repairs and installations are compliant. Functions as a point of contact for vendors. Prepares and submits reports. Participates in process improvement initiatives. May precept staff.
Work Plan & Documentation Interprets and works from blueprints, sketches and diagrams. Estimates cost of work and may order materials and maintain inventory. Discusses issues, concerns and process improvement options with Supervisor. Responsible for completing work order and asset documentation according to CMMS Standards. Provides accurate information on labor hrs & material used to complete the work, work preformed, notes any addtional required work &/or asset information.
Preventive Maintenance Performs Preventive Maintenance on Electrical equipment according to manufacturer’s specifications and CMMS directed work.
Corrective Maintenance Installs, maintains and repairs variety of electrical work incidental to the installation and repair motors, fans, lamps, and various electrical issues and other building systems. Runs conduit, pulls wire and installs circuits for electrically driven units.
Team and Work Load Support Investigates outages, supports or preforms other work as nessessary in the management the work load.
On-Call The employee may be expected to be part of an on-call group, and when assigned this responsibility, will be compensated for that time. When on-call, the employee must be available and be able to respond in accordance to policy. Periods of alert when Emergency Conditions may be expected are not considered on-call.
Essential Personnel This position is considered “essential personnel” in the event of suspension of normal operations due to inclement weather or other emergencies. They are required to perform duties as outlined in the Emergency Management Plans.
Incidental Work Other incidental or related duties as required.

EDUCATION
- Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Preferred: Completion of a recognized apprenticeship.
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Required: Six years post-journeyman experience in commercial/industrial electrical work involving interior and exterior wiring and the repair of electrical equipment and systems.
- Preferred: One year related supervisory experience and/or minimum of one year experience with MD Anderson building systems specifications and Owners Design Guidelines.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Required: JRNY-E - Journeyman Electrician Texas. Upon Hire or
- Required: EL-M - Master Electrician Texas.
- Preferred: Industry-sponsored inspector certifications issued by the International Code Council (ICC) related to electrical work. Upon Hire
- Preferred: TDL - Texas Drivers License Valid Class A, B or C Texas driver's license and eligible to drive State and institutional vehicles. Upon Hire
