Senior Community Relations Specialist
The mission of The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center is to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation, and the world through outstanding programs that integrate patient care, research and prevention, and through education for undergraduate and graduate students, trainees, professionals, employees and the public.
The primary purpose of the Senior Community Relations Specialist position is to execute the annual UTP-H Community Outreach Plan and other Divisional strategies impacting the campus community. Through public education, public events, and public awareness programs (e.g., workplace violence prevention, domestic violence awareness, hostile intruder training, Clery Compliance), the Senior Community Relations Specialist will enhance safety awareness, cultivate, and maintain relationships, and generate increased community involvement. The position will have a critical role in the development of communications on public interest topics and in response to divisional emerging risks and crime trends.
Develops, oversees, and evaluates UTP-H public education and public awareness programs (i.e., domestic violence awareness, hostile intruder training, identity theft training, Violence Against Women Act Compliance training and Clery updates as pertain to UTP-H responsibilities). Identifies and facilitates community outreach events and develops a logistics plan for execution.
Identifies and facilitates opportunities to develop relationships with the community in person and online. Develops innovative police outreach products (e.g., featured articles, interviews, videos, presentations, and internet-based media). Develops and implements the program goals and analyzes program activities. Monitors program performance. Develops and conducts surveys of programs and identifies trends, reviews data and implements program improvements.
Liaison with Institutional partners and external sources to support police and security awareness initiatives. Serve as lead and contributor to Divisional strategic planning documents. Contributes to Divisional priorities such as employee engagement, training programs, and recruiting efforts.
Education Required: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Health Education or related degree.
Experience Required: Five years experience in community relations, health education and/or community outreach activities.
