SUMMARY
The Senior Communications Specialist for Sponsorship Alliances supports the sponsorships team with onsite event activation, project management, and communications efforts to engage the public in our mission to end cancer. In collaboration with other Institutional Affairs departments, this position works closely with team members to coordinate activations and events, including logistics, collateral, giveaways, onsite staff schedules, and pre- and post-event communications.


The ideal candidate will be local to the Houston Metro area, as this position will be expected to attend event activations.

Key Responsibilities

Sponsorship Implementation

  • Supports and operationalizes sponsorship strategy. 
  • Participates in the process of new sponsorship proposal evaluation, ensuring alignment with the cause alliances strategy. 
  • Develops and maintains relationships with vendors, agencies, brand ambassadors and other collaborators. 
  • Attains strong knowledge of MD Anderson programs and services to effectively promote and represent the institution to all community constituents. 
  • Works closely with the sponsorship team on program visibility, integration and effectiveness.

Event and Content Management

  • Coordinates project plans, timelines and processes to execute sponsorship programs and events. 
  • Assists with managing activation and event logistics while tracking contract deliverables. 
  • Serves as a staff brand ambassador at sponsorship events. 
  • Collaborates with other Institutional Affairs departments to coordinate sponsorship projects, including video and digital content, social media, creative, paid media and more. 
  • Supports communications and marketing efforts, including content development for PR, social media, the web and more. 
  • Helps to facilitate the approval process for all brand assets used within sponsorship media, communications and on-site activations ensuring compliance with usage guidelines. 

Measurement and Evaluation

  • Documents sponsorship results. 
  • Assists with developing post-event evaluation reports.
  • Documents outcomes and ensures contract fulfillment for each sponsorship program and makes recommendations to improve efficiency where needed.

EDUCATION

Required: Bachelor's Degree English, Journalism, Public Relations, Communications or related field.

Preferred: Master's Degree English, Journalism, Public Relations, Communications or related field.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required: Four years Experience in public relations, communications, writing/editing or related field. or

Required: Two years Required experience with preferred degree.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
