Safety Specialist - Laboratory Safety Programs
Ideal candidate will have Laboratory Safety Programs experience, laboratory design and construction; strong biological or chemical backgrounds in academic centers preferably.

SUMMARY
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
- Responds to internal institutional incidents such as hazardous chemical/biological spills.
- - Provides training to safety technicians and customers on laboratory safety program management operations, regulations and requirements to maintain compliance.
- Conduct recombinant material research protocol review for the Institutional Biosafety Committee.
- - Conduct institutional Virus Safety Training and agent-specific safety trainings for clinical trial staff.
- Conducts and revises Laboratory Safety program training.
- Conducts data analysis for personal protective equipment use, develops targeted program and implements program.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Participates in on-call working group supporting HazWoper regulations.
- A requirement of this position is to be competent and expected to enter data into mobile devices while working away from your workstation, where wi-fi is available. In areas where wi-fi is not available, data is expected to be entered or uploaded at the earliest opportunity
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Applied or Basic Sciences, Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, Environmental Science or related field. Class A, B or C valid Texas driver's license depending on the type and weight of vehicle to be operated and number of passengers to be carried and eligible to drive State and institutional vehicles.
