SUMMARY

Applies technical expertise and experience to plan, coordinate, design, supervise and carry out research projects. The Research Scientist position will support and advance research initiatives focused on chimeric antigen receptors (CARs). This role involves engineering primary immune cells—such as natural killer (NK) cells and cytotoxic T cells—to selectively target cancer cells. The Research Scientist will also contribute to the development of analytical tools and algorithms tailored to address scientific challenges within the CAR-NK platform.

The ideal candidate will have experience in Immunotherapy, Cell Therapy, or CAR-NK therapy. Experience with Bioinformatics may also be preferred. 

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Scientific Management/Collaboration  

  • Collaborates with the leadership to finalize project SOP and best practices

  • Prepares data analysis and close out reports related to each project

  • Contributes to the overall scientific management of CAR NK projects

  • Provides scientific input, including assistance in the design of preclinical and translational research, interpretation of data and design of follow-up experiments, troubleshooting issues, and providing results and conclusions to program leadership, collaborators, and co-workers.

  • Complete laboratory work if necessary and integral to the completion of a scientific project.

Scientific Writing and Publications   

  • Authors, coordinates, and creates technical reports, abstracts, slide presentations, spreadsheets, posters, and manuscripts for submission to corporate and federal sponsors, conferences, and scientific journals.

  • Supports production of medical illustrations, publication graphics, scientific posters, and slide presentations for national and international meetings.

Technology Platforms

  • Analyzes data, develops and assists others in the development of formalisms, algorithms and software for complex applications.

  • Maintains software tools and infrastructure for resolving specific problems.

  • Assists in the development, testing and revision of programs.

  • Proven experience in using flow cytometry software such as, FlowJo

  • Proficiency in analyzing Mass Cytometry and spectral flow data using software packages.

Education

Required: Masters degree in one of the natural sciences or related field. 

Experience

Required: Four years of experience in experimental or scientific work. With PhD, no experience required. With Medical degree, two years of experience in experimental or scientific work. 

This position may be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, as defined in Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code and therefore may require routine reviews and screening. The ability to satisfy and maintain all requirements necessary to ensure the continued security and integrity of such infrastructure is a condition of hire and continued employment.
