The primary purpose of the Research Oversight and Integrity Analyst is to provide administrative and analytical support to the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC). This position requires independent judgement of a scientific nature and considerable initiative and ability to make decisions to ensure efficient program operations. Additionally, this position is responsible for carrying out administrative detail duties and for organizing and coordinating activities related to research regulatory review and analysis.


The ideal candidate will have an understanding of various animal models, including research animal use manipulations. The individual will also have the capacity to work collaboratively with a variety of personnel (from various backgrounds) in the animal care and use program. Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent organization, time management and problem solving skills. The ability to prioritize and work with minimal supervision within a strong team environment is essential as is demonstrating an eagerness for customer service. Must be able to maintain objectivity in each aspect of the role while still maintain a customer-oriented focus.



IACUC Administrative Support

  • Coordinates the day to day operations and administration of the IACUC.
  • Assists principal investigators and research teams with protocol, annual review, 3-year renewal and amendment submissions.
  • Schedules and facilitates monthly committee, subcommittee, and leadership meetings.
  • Supports IACUC members with orientation, continuing education and training, and guides them through the electronic protocol system.
  • Provides education and training to the animal research community at the institution.   
  • Prepares monthly meeting documents including agendas.
  • Records accurate committee meeting minutes.
  • Ensures timely approvals of protocols and amendments.
  • Serves as a resource to the Principal Investigator (PI) in discussing the animal research protocol with a Designated Member Reviewer of the IACUC or in preparing the submission for Full Committee Review.
  • Alerts Manager of business and process issues.
  • Coordinates and participates in inspections of animal care and use facilities and laboratories to assist the IACUC in providing oversight of all animal-related activities and to ensure compliance with federal regulations, nationally accepted standards and institutional policies.
  • Maintains confidentiality as appropriate. Ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Assists in preparing and submitting regulatory documents.
  • Prepares documents for federal and accreditation site visits.
  • Monitors regulatory updates and industry best practices.  


IACUC Protocol Administrative Reviews

  • Conducts administrative protocol pre-reviews including verification of training, all relevant sections of the protocol are completed appropriately, and hazardous and biological materials requiring review by the Institutional Biosafety Committee.
  • Routes protocol reviews based on committee approved SOPs.
  • Is familiar with federal regulations, policies and institutional processes to provide administrative and analytical support to PIs and research staff to address IACUC related questions and protocol contingencies.


Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) and IACUC Investigation Support

  • Provides support for the IBC as needed or directed by the Manager.
  • Provides support for the investigation of incidents related to the IACUC as needed or directed by the Manager.


Participates in special projects and performs other job related duties as required.




Required: Bachelor's degree in a related field.

Preferred: Degree in Biology, Chemistry, or Biomedical Science. Master's degree in a related field.



Required: Two years of relevant experience. With Master's degree, no experience required.

Preferred: Experience in laboratory research and animal research. Some administrative experience is also preferred.
