Research Nurse Manager - Thoracic Head & Neck Medical Oncology
Seeking a Research Nurse Manager to join one of the world's most respected centers devoted exclusively to cancer patient care, research, education and prevention. The Department of Thoracic/Head and Neck Medical Oncology provides the highest quality of care to our patients and advances the treatment and prevention of aerodigestive cancers through innovative clinical and laboratory research.
The ideal Research Nurse Manager will have prior oncology research experience including managing overall operations, strategic planning, budgeting, staff development, quality assurance and administration of activities/personnel that impact research protocols and protocol patients. Candidates must be willing to be onsite for 4 days a week for the first 6 months. The schedule for this position is Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm.

KEY FUNCTIONS
- Screens negotiations to ensure feasibility, operational logistics, accrual, staffing ratios are in alignment with Clinical Research Operations Program (CROPs) goals and objectives.
- Develop strategies to promote enrollment of patient populations, consistently employing study recruitment efforts that reflect creativity in the selection and utilization of a variety of methods available.
- Aligns research staffing with department research portfolio.
- Designs/updates acuity scale/methodologies for research trials.
- In line with protocol/project budgets, ensures appropriate allocation of research staff to protocols, and projects future staffing needs.
- Provide clinical expertise to Chairman, Associate Chair (Clinical Research Operations Program Director, CROPs) Faculty and Administrative Director, Protocol Administration for Dept Protocol approval meetings (“Capsule”) presentations.
- Assumes responsibility for the effective operation of all department research protocols in collaboration with Principal Investigators, research personnel, and protocol sponsors.
- Consults regarding protocol logistics with all relevant research collaborators.
- Monitors the accurate collection & validation of research data collected at study visits.
- Assists Principal Investigators and study team in managing study conduct, maintaining knowledge of the most current federal institutional requirements for clinical research.
EDUCATION
- Required: Bachelor's Degree Nursing.
- Preferred: Master's Degree Nursing.
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Required: Five years Registered nursing experience to included two years of research nursing experience and two years of supervisory experience.
- Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate and/or LEADing Self Discover programs may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Completion of both programs can be substituted for a maximum of two years of supervisory or management experience.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Required: RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure State of Texas Professional Nursing License (RN). Upon Hire and
- Required: BLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire
- Required: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Upon Hire
Certification through an approved institutional Association (such as SOCRA, ACRP, OCN)
- Preferred: ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification as required by patient care area. Upon Hire
- Preferred: PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification as required by patient care area. Upon Hire
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
