Research Nurse - Lymphoma / Myeloma

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Clinical Research Activities
Assesses patients for protocol eligibility, coordinates, evaluates and follows patient participation in clinical trials which includes Car T-cell trial. Collaborates with multidisciplinary team individually and in group meetings in monitoring and evaluating patient and family response to the treatment protocol or research study by providing verbal and written or computerized reports. Assists primary investigator in collection and evaluation of data collected from all research endeavors by retrieving and visually reading data from medical record in clinic, office or Medical Records and entering via keyboard into computers in office or transcribing data by and onto Case Report forms.
Clinical Settings Activities
Evaluates response to treatment, grading toxicities and adverse treatment reactions through personal interviews, by visually monitoring the medical record and or by talking with patient and or family members and local physicians on the telephone. Reports treatment responses, toxicities and adverse treatment reactions to protocol/research sponsors and the Institutional Review Board (IRB) by providing regular written or computerized reports which are to be walked to office supplied for sponsors and to IRB office as required.
Patient Care & Education
Provides quality patient care in relation to the patient prescribed diagnosis, treatment, age group, development and other identified needs. Identifies and provides patient and family educational needs regarding treatment management, evaluation and follow-up on clinical trials and research protocols through talking with patients and families person to person and by telephone and synthesizing information provided. The Research Nurse must be able to work within a context of very intense interpersonal relationships, including patient, physician, co-workers and subordinates.

EDUCATION
Required:
Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
EXPERIENCE
Required:
One year of registered nursing experience.
Preferred:
Prior Research Nurse experience.
Prior clinical experience in Oncology setting.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION
Required:
Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN).
Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
Preferred:
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area.
