SUMMARY:

The primary purpose of the Research Assistant II position is to provide technical and coordination skills in carrying out various research projects, to include coordinating procedures and performing technical laboratory duties in accordance with general and/or specific plans for the institution.

The Eschweiler lab in the department of Experimental Therapeutics is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher for a position in cancer immunology. This research will involve investigating the cellular/molecular dynamics of innate and adaptive immune cells to develop novel immunotherapy strategies in solid tumors. In this regard, xenograft and genetically engineered mouse models as well as patient specimen are employed in both basic and translational studies. A wide set of cellular, basic immunology, advanced flow cytometry, molecular and transcriptome analysis techniques will be utilized to interrogate pertinent questions in several in vitro and in vivo studies. The lab employs genomic tools, novel mouse tumor models and computational approaches to understand the immunological basis of cancer.

The applicant should be self-motivated, able to design and conduct experiments, prepare, and present their work at meetings, and write scientific manuscripts; should have skill in setting up and use of laboratory equipment, and ability to assist with development of new and improved methodology. The applicant is expected to train students/technologists when necessary and participate in overall lab management.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:

 Ability to work with In vivo mouse models

• Skilled in the following analytical techniques:

Ø Tumor immunology & cancer immunotherapy

Ø Mouse handling & injections skills (Intraperitoneal, subcutaneous, retroorbital)

Ø Cell culture of various cancer cell lines & primary cells

Ø Multi-color flow cytometry (FACS) & cell sorting

Ø Single-cell RNA-seq & ATAC-seq

Ø Data analysis & interpretation

• Other duties as assigned.

 

 

Education Required - Bachelor's degree with major course works in one of the basic sciences.

Experience Required - One year experience in scientific or experimental research work.  No experience required with preferred degree.
