The Research Assistant I position plays a vital role in supporting innovative research projects aimed at advancing cancer treatment and understanding. As a Research Assistant I, you will work closely with faculty and research staff to conduct experiments, manage data, and maintain laboratory operations. This position offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in molecular biology, tissue culture, and mouse model research while supporting critical scientific discoveries.
 
The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in a basic science field and have prior experience as a research assistant, preferably at MD Anderson, with demonstrated skills in working with mouse models and performing molecular biology techniques.
 
Minimum $18.99 – Midpoint $23.80 – Maximum $28.61

Responsibilities
Conduct Research Experiments & Projects
• Perform experiments and research projects under faculty or research staff supervision
• Execute scientific protocols accurately and efficiently
 
Operate Laboratory Apparatus & Equipment
• Utilize laboratory equipment to conduct experiments
• Maintain equipment in proper working condition
 
Data Gathering & Analysis
• Record and evaluate data according to specified methods
• Perform DNA and RNA manipulation and tissue culture techniques
• Conduct mouse experiments including breeding, genotyping, and tumor transplantation
• Document and report findings to the principal investigator
 
Maintain Laboratory Environment
• Keep work areas clean and organized for safety and efficiency
• Follow written instructions and operations manuals
 
Other Duties
• Complete additional tasks as assigned to support research objectives

EDUCATION
• Required: Bachelor’s degree, major course work in one of the basic sciences
• Preferred: None.
EXPERIENCE
• Required: None.
• Preferred: Experience as a Research Assistant with MD Anderson and experience working with mouse models
