Research Assistant I Hematopoietic Biology & Malignancy Dr. Jeffrey J. Molldrem
The primary purpose of the Research Assistant I position is to coordinate, design, and carry out cancer research projects while following standard operating procedures for the laboratory.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Research Experiments and Projects
Performs basic molecular biology assays (manipulation of DNA, RNA, etc) and tissue culture techniques (human primary cells and cell lines, mouse cells). Will complete a wide array of experimental procedures including but not limited to cloning, viral vector preparation and transduction, immunological assays, and flow cytometry.
Laboratory Function
Participates in the planning and design of experiments. Performs in vitro and ex vivo experiments as needed. Records and evaluates data. Formulates results (reports, graphs, etc) based on acquired data. Presents/reports the findings to the PI.
Laboratory Maintenance
Maintains a clean and neat work area in the laboratory to ensure efficient, reliable operations. Helps to maintain appropriate laboratory inventory of consumables and reagents. Follows written instructions/operations manuals. Other duties as assigned.
