The Patient Services Coordinator position on the Rehab/Neuro unit at MD Anderson Cancer Center coordinates and schedules patient appointments and has direct impact on patient care services.

The schedule will be two 12 hour shifts and two 8 hour shifts each week. The shifts will be 7am-7pm, 7am-3pm, and 3pm-11pm, with rotating weekends and holidays required.

The Rehab/Neuro unit is a 29 bed unit and the unit cares for neurosurgery, neuro-oncology and in-patient rehab patients. The patient population is mostly adult, with some pediatrics or late adolescent patients.  Our unit focuses on acute care patients and Neuro Progressive Care patients who require more hands on monitoring the first 24 hours post-surgery.

Hourly breakdown of salary range:
Minimum $18.75 - Midpoint $23.32 - Maximum $27.88

Essential Job Functions:

Schedules provider appointments, diagnostic tests, procedures, and treatments. Prepares and maintains daily appointment templates and/or patient records in One Connect (Epic). Communicates all pertinent information to families, physicians, team members, and other patient care areas. Prepares patient materials and documentation according to established procedures. Collects co-payments and validates patient insurance and demographics.

Updates payment and patient information Reconciles One Connect cash drawer on a daily basis. Performs validation of the Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire (MSPQ). Ensures coordination of benefits and assignment of Hospital Account Record (HAR). Follows standard operating procedures for institution and center. Protects the security and confidentiality of patient information at all times.

EDUCATION:
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred:  Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree would be a plus.

EXPERIENCE:
Required: Three years of relevant work experience. May substitute additional education for required experience on a one to one basis.

OTHER:
Required: Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
