Essential Job FunctionsGathers financial, demographic and insurance information from the patient. Enters automated and manual patient data. Pre-certifies and verifies treatment with third party payers as required and obtains materials for the patient record. Provides quotes for anticipated patient care and collects prepayments as required. Assigns beds to inpatients and notifies appropriate staff of admissions and transfers. Enters patient information into databases and produces reports. Communicates with patients/responsible parties concerning billing process and financial responsibilities. Documents communication with payors and patients. Demonstrates excellent customer service with patients, families and other hospital staff.

EDUCATION - High School Diploma or Equivalent Required or Associate's Degree in a related field.
Preferred WORK EXPERIENCE - 4 years experience in a healthcare or customer service environment to include one year in patient access. Required May substitute preferred education degree with two years of relevant experience on a one to one basis. OTHER REQUIREMENTS - Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
