The Patient Care Technician on the G22 IMU unit at MD Anderson Cancer Center provides patient care services as assigned by a registered nurse and directly impacts patient comfort and outcome of care. 


The ideal candidate must have a high school diploma and preferably a CNA certification. The candidate must be available to work a combination of two 12-hour shifts and two 8-hour shifts, Monday-Friday, with rotating weekends and holidays. Both shift options available.


Day/Evening (7:00am – 7:00pm, 7:00am – 3:00pm, 3:00pm – 11:00pm).
Evening/Night (7:00pm – 7:00am, 11:00pm- 7:00am, 3:00pm – 11:00pm).


G22 IMU is a specialized intermediate care unit providing advanced monitoring and treatment for oncology patients who require a higher level of care than a general medical unit but do not need intensive care. Nurses on this unit manage complex therapies, monitor for complications, and provide education and emotional support to patients and families.


Hourly breakdown of salary range:
Minimum $18.27 - Midpoint $22.84 - Maximum $27.40

Essential Job Functions:
•    Provides patient care services as assigned by a registered nurse. 
•    Impacts patient comfort and outcome of care. 
•    Acts as member of a multidisciplinary team that identifies and addresses patient care needs.
•    Assists in completion of activities of daily living, mobilization, admit/discharge and obtaining vital signs.
•    Updates and retrieves patient information.
•    Ensures patient environment is maintained in a clean, safe and orderly manner.
•    Acts as part of an assigned care team.
•    Other duties as assigned.

Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Education Preferred: None.
Experience Required: None
Experience Preferred: One year experience in an acute care hospital setting as a Nursing Assistant.
Licensure/Certification Required: None.
Licensure/Certification Preferred: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
Other Required: Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
