The primary purpose of the Medical Assistant position is to provide patient care assistance to the ambulatory care patient, as delegated, and support daily operations of the center.

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (MD Anderson) and Texas Children's (TC) announced a new collaboration on February 19, 2025.  The collaborative operations and patient care are anticipated to launch in early 2026. This advertised position is within the scope of the new collaboration and will not continue at MD Anderson beyond 12/31/25.  Opportunity to continue in this role at TC may be offered by TC. Candidates will have the option to discuss the impact of the collaboration with Human Resources professionals. 

Ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, certified/registered Medical Assistant with at least one year of directly related experience, preferably in a pediatrics setting.  Must be available to work 4 x 10 hr. shifts: Monday - Friday, 7:30am to 6:00pm with a rotating day off during the week.

Assists Patients- Aids in completion of activities of daily living, mobilization, greeting, rooming, and vital signs all members of the heath care team.

a. Maintains environment in a clean, safe, and orderly manner
b. Stock and maintain unit and patient care supplies and equipment


Service Orientation- Provide service to our customers, including patients, patient caregivers, referring physicians and each other, in a reliable, responsive, safe, friendly and courteous manner.

• Models safe, ethical behavior, mitigating risk to the institution through sound business practices, and adherence to MD Anderson’s Standards of Conduct, institutional policies and procedures.

• Admits when wrong, apologize and take steps to resolve a situation to help to patients and coworkers before being asked.

REQUIREMENTS

Education

Required:  High school diploma/equivalent.

Preferred: Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program or US Military medical services training program.

Experience

Required:  One year of medical assistant experience. With preferred degree, no experience is required.

This position may be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, as defined in Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code and therefore may require routine reviews and screening. The ability to satisfy and maintain all requirements necessary to ensure the continued security and integrity of such infrastructure is a condition of hire and continued employment.
