Summary
The primary purpose of the Medical Assistant position is to provide patient care and customer service assistance to the ambulatory care patient, as delegated, and support the daily operations of the center.
We are currently seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team in the Medical Oncology League City location.
The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or equivalent, along with a minimum of one year of experience as a Medical Assistant.
Preferred qualifications include:
• One to two years of oncology experience
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential

Shift: Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
Key Functions
Assists with patient examinations, treatments and procedures. Prepares / stocks rooms and escorts patients to rooms. Obtains vital signs and prepares patients for physician's care. Documents in the medical record patient care entries and completed lab work. Reviews and sorts incoming lab results and forwards reports for review. Collects laboratory specimens and performs waived laboratory testing (such as finger stick glucose and EKG tests). Provides transportation of patients for discharge or transfer to other areas in the hospital. Must position, lift and move patients as needed. Cleans, stores, prepares and coordinates maintenance of medical equipment. Maintains inventories of laboratory and medical supplies. Processes all required paperwork. Instructs patients as to test preparations according to planned procedure.

EDUCATION
Required: High school diploma/equivalent.
Preferred: Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program or US Military medical services training program.
EXPERIENCE
Required: One year of medical assistant experience. With preferred degree, no experience is required.
Preferred: Two years of medical assistant experience. One to two years of oncology experience is preferred.
CERTIFICATION
Required: None
Preferred: Certified by one of the following based on Medical Assistant experience or preferred education:
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by the American Society of Medical Technologists (AMT)
Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
