EDUCATION

Required: High school diploma or equivalent  

Preferred:  Continuing education/course completion for massage in an oncology setting

 

EXPERIENCE

Required:  One year experience as a licensed massage therapist in a corporate or community setting.

Preferred:  Minimum of 6 months massage therapy practice in an inpatient hospital, bilingual English/Spanish and experience with oncology patients.  Possess a basic understanding of health care clinical operations and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a multidisciplinary team.

 

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION

Required: Licensure as a Massage Therapist from Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS).  American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Preferred:  Certification with the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB).  General cancer terminology course.
