Laboratory Technician - Histology (IHC) 8am-5pm

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Provides assistance to laboratory staff and pathologists.
- Provide direct assistance to laboratory staff and pathologists in their preparation of diagnostic and/or research material.
- Assist clinical histology technicians with procurement and processing of specimens and preparation of slides.
Organizing and tracking patient material
- Utilize laboratory informatics system to access patient information and to organize, label and track patient materials relevant to the histology laboratories.
- Locate and deliver sides/blocks and corresponding information to pathologist, fellows and other departmental/divisional employees as needed.
Equipment maintenance, preparing solutions and Inventory
- Prepares solutions and maintains laboratory equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness of laboratories according to safety and regulatory guidelines.
- Receive, unpack, store and date chemicals and supplies.
- Performs all duties following established safety guidelines
Other duties as assigned
High school graduation or equivalent. One year of experience in a clinical medical laboratory or similar setting. With preferred degree, no experience required.
