The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a skilled Electrician to support the reliable operation of critical electrical systems across the institution. The Electrician role within [Department information not provided] is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems that support clinical, research, and administrative environments. This Electrician position directly contributes to the safety, functionality, and continuity of essential operations.

The Electrician position is essential to delivering operational excellence across the organization.

The ideal candidate is a licensed Journeyman Electrician in the State of Texas with a valid driver’s license and at least four (4) years of post-journeyman experience. They will have relevant education in electrical systems or a related technical field, along with hands-on experience performing journeyman-level electrical work and demonstrated project experience. Will also have hands-on experience with minor electrical installations and the ability to effectively coordinate and oversee small-scale electrical projects from approval through completion.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7am - 3:30pm

Salary Range: $69,000 - $86,000 - $103,000

Responsibilities

Electrical Systems Installation, Maintenance, and Repair
• Interpret instructions, blueprints, sketches, and diagrams to install electrical systems
• Install, alter, maintain, and repair electrical systems, fixtures, and equipment
• Review, repair, and install complete normal and emergency electrical power systems
• Maintain and repair normal and emergency electrical power systems
• Investigate electrical outages and implement corrective solutions

Work Order Management and Technical Execution
• Utilize CMMS system (Maximo) to document all work order activities accurately
• Run conduits, pull wires, and install circuits for electrically driven units
• Perform preventive maintenance on electrical panels, transformers, MCCs, and generators
• Install, maintain, and repair electrical motors, generators, and fans
• Provide labor and material estimates for electrical installations and repairs

Equipment Installation and Cross-Functional Support
• Procure, build, and install electrical equipment including fixtures, MCCs, generators, and panels
• Install and support systems such as switchboards, fire alarm panels, BAS controls, and control systems
• Perform electrical work supporting HVAC, refrigeration, medical, and laboratory equipment
• Collaborate with other trade technicians across disciplines
• Provide backup support for refrigeration, plumbing, and general maintenance functions

Inventory, Procurement, and Documentation
• Prepare purchase requisitions and stock issue forms for materials and parts
• Maintain inventory through O&M Warehouse and external vendors when necessary
• Ensure accurate documentation of inspections, maintenance activities, and follow-up work
• Record preventive maintenance data on assigned assets

Critical Systems Response and Monitoring
• Maintain critical alarm systems and ensure system readiness
• Respond promptly to all code red alarms
• Respond to critical equipment alarms to minimize operational disruption

Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Preferred: Completion of a recognized apprenticeship.

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Required: One year Post-journeyman experience in commercial/industrial electrical work involving interior and exterior wiring and the repair of electrical equipment and systems.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Required: JRNY-E - Journeyman Electrician Texas. Upon Hire or
  • Required: EL-M - Master Electrician Texas. Upon Hire
  • Preferred: TDL - Texas Drivers License Valid Class A, B or C Texas driver's license and eligible to drive State and institutional vehicles. Upon Hire
