Inventory Support Assistant - Donor Operations
The Donor Operations department at MD Anderson Cancer Center plays a vital role in supporting blood collection activities that help maintain a safe and reliable blood supply for cancer patients. Behind every successful donor collection is a well-coordinated operation that ensures collection sites, mobile blood drives, and laboratory areas have the supplies and resources they need to operate safely and efficiently.
This Inventory Support Assistant position offers the opportunity to play a critical behind-the-scenes role in keeping donor operations running smoothly. The role is ideal for an organized, dependable professional who enjoys hands-on inventory work, takes pride in maintaining accurate supplies, and can effectively coordinate with drivers, technicians, supervisors, and other team members.
In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining inventory supply rooms and ensuring appropriate PAR levels are maintained. You will utilize inventory management systems, track incoming and outgoing orders, stock supplies as they arrive, and maintain inventory supporting donor appreciation, the IDT laboratory, and component manufacturing. Keeping supply rooms clean, organized, and properly stocked will be essential to ensuring operational readiness.
You will also prepare and organize supplies for mobile blood drives and donor collection facilities. This includes ensuring collection sites have the necessary supplies, packing materials for upcoming drives, preparing mobile drive supplies for morning pickup, and ensuring donor appreciation items and snacks are included. Your attention to detail and ability to anticipate supply needs will directly support successful daily collections.
Strong communication and organization skills are essential to this position. You will communicate regularly with Drivers, Senior Technicians, Supervisors, and other employees regarding inventory needs, missing items, incoming and outgoing orders, and supply issues. You will maintain clear records of supplies on hand and promptly communicate problems so they can be addressed before they impact donor operations.
The ideal candidate will be organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a hands-on inventory environment. Experience with inventory management, supply rooms, warehouse operations, healthcare supplies, or logistics is beneficial, along with the ability to accurately track materials and communicate effectively with a variety of operational partners. Candidates who enjoy being the person who makes sure the right supplies are in the right place at the right time will find this role especially rewarding.
