Institute Senior Research Scientist, Medicinal Chemistry Neuroscience
EDUCATION
Required: Master's degree in one of the natural sciences.
Preferred: PhD in one of the natural sciences or related field or Medical degree, with significant component of organic or medicinal chemistry.
EXPERIENCE
Required: Eleven years of relevant research laboratory experience. With preferred degree, five years of required experience.
Preferred: Experience must include at least 2-5 years of relevant industrial experience within the pharmaceutical industry. Must have strong synthetic organic and medicinal chemistry background, with expert knowledge in the latest synthetic methods. Must have a broad understanding of the drug discovery process and the requirements to successfully develop new clinical agents. Strong knowledge of automated chemistry, and be well versed in harnessing the potential of computational chemistry methods to position programs towards success. Demonstrated ability to design small molecules to optimize multiple entwined physical/pharmacological parameters simultaneously. Experience mentoring medicinal chemistry staff.
The ideal candidate will be an accomplished medicinal chemist who has previously contributed to a successful medicinal chemistry discovery, optimization and development project. Ideally he/she will be familiar with neuroscience drug discovery and have some understanding of neuroscience biology.
