The Institute for Applied Cancer Science (IACS) is a new hybrid model that uniquely combines the drug discovery capabilities of the biopharmaceutical industry and the extensive knowledge of biology found in academia with the expertise of MD Anderson's top clinicians.  The Institute for Applied Cancer Science is seeking a highly motivated and team oriented individual to be join our ADME/PK research group to support the Institute for Applied Cancer Sciences fast-paced drug discovery programs. The position requires a high self-motivated individual, with organizational skills, and the ability to effectively present results and conclusions to co-workers and managers.  A collaborative attitude is essential for this position.
 
The ideal candidate will have experience in ADME assays using liver microsomes and/or hepatocytes and have experience in metabolite identification and structural elucidation using high resolution mass spectrometers. He/She will be familiar with using automation for sample processing, and skilled in analysis using triple quadrupole and high-resolution LC-MS/MS instruments.
He/She will have good communication skills and will regular liaise with other members of the cross-functional project team. This individual will be a key contributor in the identification and optimization of the next generation of cancer therapeutics. 
 
Key Functions
* Under moderate supervision, executes in vitro ADME assays on drug discovery programs, such as liver microsomal and hepatocytic stability assays, kinetic solubility, and plasma protein binding assays etc.
* Under moderate supervision, maintain cell culture and conduct MDCK cell permeability assay.
* Under guidance, develop, validate, and execute new ADME/PK assays as needed.
* Conduct analytical method development, validation, and qualification for a large variety of small molecules.  Quantify analytes in various biological matrices using triple quadrupole LC-MS/MS.
* Help to maintain and troubleshoot triple quadrupole LC-MS/MS systems.
* Participate in integrated drug discovery research project teams and interacts across cross-functional groups, liaise with members of the medicinal chemistry, in vitro & in vivo pharmacology, and biology teams.
* Employ safe lab practice.
* Maintain research records and laboratory notes.

EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Enzymology, Pharmacology, Chemistry or related field.
 
Preferred: Master's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Enzymology, Pharmacology, Chemistry or related field. One year of relevant research experience in lab. With preferred degree, no required experience.
 
EXPERIENCE: 
Required: Three years of relevant research laboratory work. With Master’s degree, one year of required experience.
 
Preferred: 
Experience in pharma or Biotech Company.
The ideal candidate will have experience in ADME assays using biomatrix such as liver microsomes and hepatocytes, working on plasma and tumor tissue PK or PD samples, using automation and SPE (solid phase extraction) for sample processing, and analyzing samples using LC-MS/MS instruments. Demonstrated team player who possesses excellent problem solving capabilities, and can contribute independently to the success of the project.
