MISSION STATEMENT

SUMMARY

The primary purpose of the Image Library Representative position is to upload and digitize various digital and analog media into the Picture, Archiving and Communication System (PACS) for interpretation, comparison and storage. Access PACS storage, and copy images to CD-ROM, film, etc. Have a working knowledge of procedure modalities and imaging software to extract images from one media to the other.

 

Shift: Monday-Friday 7:00a-3:30p

KEY FUNCTIONS

1.   Evaluate and properly format all outside imaging stud ies for clinical use.  Has a general understanding of topographical anatomy.

2.   Validate and is familiar with all clinical imaging modalities for the proper distribution of studies through Diagnostic Imaging's information systems (e.g. RIS, PACS).

3.   Coordinate the appropriate sequencing of all mammography film hanging protocols for radiologist

evaluations.

4.   Collaborate with multidisciplinary care centers to optimize the urgent and routine flow of patient outside imaging studies.

5.   Facilitate the delivery and purge of outside imaging studies in accordance with departmental policy.

6.   Provide direct patient assistance through the release of imaging studies and signed clinical reports.

7.   Collaborate with MD Anderson’s legal department to format and distribute imaging studies for legal firms or subpoenas requesting patient medical information.

8.   Greet and communicate effectively with patients, family members, faculty, and other staff upon arrival to the Release of Medical Information offices located in the Main hospital and ACB.

9.   Responsible for the security and confidentiality of patient information at all times.

10. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION

Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Associates Degree or Bachelor's Degree.


LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
 
Required: none
Preferred: Certified PACS Associate (Technical or Clinical)

EXPERIENCE

Required: Two years of PACS, HIM, or general administrative experience.
Preferred:  Experience with imaging software and equipment, and has a general understanding of topographical anatomy.

Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources. 

This position may be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, as defined in Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code and therefore may require routine reviews and screening. The ability to satisfy and maintain all requirements necessary to ensure the continued security and integrity of such infrastructure is a condition of hire and continued employment.
