The Data Scientist will perform bioinformatics and statistical analysis to molecularly assess the effects of drug treatments in clinical trials and characterize the multiomics including pathomics of rare cancers. Collaborate closely with pathologists, bioinformaticians, biostatisticians, immunologists, computer scientists, and clinicians. Expand/develop data analytic pipeline/capacities/standards. Contribute to peer-reviewed publications and documentation. Supervise junior researchers (including those in the training programs).
 
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
 
Perform bioinformatics and statistical analysis to molecularly assess the effects of drug treatments in clinical trials 
* Apply correct/optimal computational/statistical models on data
* Generating meaningful/valuable biological/clinical insights
* Quality control the data
* Communicate timely/accurately with team
 
Collaborate closely with pathologists, immunologists and clinicians
* Weekly meetings
* Ad hoc project meetings with investigators
* Scientifically organize projects/communications to ensure timely progress towards producing intellectual assets such as publications
 
Expand/develop data analytic pipeline/capacities/standards   
* Adopt public domain tools into the pipeline
* Identify gaps/limitations in capacity
* Collaborate with developer/engineers to fill in the gaps
* Learning new technologies/tools 
 
Contribute to peer-reviewed publications and documentation 
* Please instrumental role in scientific dissemination, including being co-authors and lead authors in manuscripts
* Make sure work (i.e., code/protocols) is well-documented, transparent and transferable to team members
 
Supervise junior researchers (including those in the training programs)  
* Contribute to training/education of junior members including those are new to the team and those in affiliated training programs
 

EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Computational Biology, or related field.

Preferred: Master's or PhD degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Computational Biology, or related field.

EXPERIENCE:
Required: Three years experience in scientific software or industry development/analysis. With Master's degree, one years experience required. With PhD, no experience required.

Preferred: Experience in the biotech, pharma, or related.
