The ideal candidate will have experience with research compliance investigations, good clinical practices investigations, and grant compliance investigations. 

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

General Compliance Activities 

The Investigator, Research Compliance, will be responsible for consistently managing and performing the following high-level activities in a timely, thorough and objective manner:     

Efficiently and appropriately investigate research compliance concerns, identify and mitigate non-compliance red flags, and conduct special reviews   

Document investigations and prepare, submit, and maintain corresponding closing reports in a timely manner in accordance with department procedures and requirements 

Collect, track, document, and analyze compliance concerns or non-compliance red flags, investigation outcomes, and other information obtained through investigations and communicate that information to the Program Director and Manager to enable risk-based design and delivery of research compliance training and communications, and enable the design of consistent preventive measures or form the basis for recommending new or revised institutional policies or procedures 

Assess whether complaints or red flags merit further investigation, education, policy or procedure changes, or other institutional response and work with the Manager to design and implement the appropriate response 

Ensure investigation outcomes are adequately supported and documenting such support 

Identify, document, track, and address root causes and system, policy, and procedure vulnerabilities, and the extent and pervasiveness of noncompliance 

Provide recommendations for remediationTrack remediation to completion and ensure consistent remediation is applied for similar infractions    

Use departmental tools to maintain information securely, provide updates, gather and report investigation and noncompliance red flag metrics 

Identify, interpret, and appropriately use applicable governing authorities 

Contemporaneously document the investigation process and preparing clear, complete, concise, and factual reports 

Identify project issues and risks and mitigate such issues and risks with input from the Manager 

Keep abreast of research-related rules, regulations, institutional policies and procedures, organizational changes, and department processes 

Maintain and secure files and documents for work-related activities and meeting discussions and outcomesAll work-related files and documents will be always accessible to senior management and to colleagues as appropriate.

Required education: Bachelor's degree.

Required experience: Seven years of experience in compliance or general/legal regulatory compliance to include experience in a healthcare, academic medical center or related field conducting internal investigations of alleged fraud, waste, and abuse activities as an auditor or fraud investigator. With preferred degree, five years of experience required. May substitute required degree with additional years of related experience on a one to one basis.
