Chaplains at MD Anderson provide pastoral care to our patients, their families and staff. Chaplains visit patients at their bedside, receive prayer requests and lead support groups.
 
Salary range: min-$68,400   mid-$85,500   max-$102,600
 
SUMMARY:
Maintains standards and accreditation of Clinical Pastoral Education center at M. D. Anderson (MDA) and administers the pastoral education program.
Impacts the quality and success of the pastoral education program at MDA.
Maintains the accreditation of the Clinical Pastoral Education center.  Ensures compliance with all standards and requirements of the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) such as space, stipend, supervision and ethical treatment of students. 
 
Recruits and selects students to fill institutional positions as fellows, summer seminarians and extended quarter (community) clergy according to annual plan. 
 
Develops, coordinates and assists department advisory committees in screening students.  Facilitates development and evaluation of curriculum to ensure all standards are appropriately maintained.  Recruits and trains student supervisors.  Creates and maintains student records.  Works with other CPE centers in the Texas Medical Center to coordinate curriculums and learning experiences.

EDUCATION:

Required: Graduate level theological degree from a college, university or theological school accredited by a member of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Equivalencies for graduate level theological degree will be granted by the individual professional organization according to established guidelines.

 

EXPERIENCE:

Required: Three years ACPE certified education experience and/or healthcare ministry experience. Ordination and endorsement by a recognized faith group. Certified Educator or Associate Educator from the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE)
