Clinical Nurse Residency Program - Head & Neck/Breast Surgery Inpatient Unit

The Head & Neck/Plastics Reconstruction unit provides specialized nursing care to patients with a unique complexity of needs. Challenge yourself to enhance your critical-thinking and knowledge of airway management, microvascular flap monitoring, and wound care.
The ideal candidate will have graduated from an accredited school of professional nursing.
Shift Hours: Nights (7P - 7A) - 36 hours total per week including rotating holidays and weekends.
SUMMARY
Function Manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating, and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care.
Scope Impacts quality of patient care, patient outcomes, and use of resources in a designated area in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
Essential Job Functions
- Manage and oversee the provision of patient care in assigned areas.
- Assess patient needs for nursing care and coordinate with the multidisciplinary team.
- Collaborate with physicians, other services, patients, and families to plan care and evaluate outcomes.
- Integrate research findings and theories into practice; participate in data collection for ongoing studies.
- Demonstrate clinical competency and compassion in:
- Providing care using technology
- Administering medications
- Performing procedures
- Managing emergencies
- Document patient care according to established standards.
- Access, input, and retrieve information from computer systems.
- Ensure continuity of care through discharge planning, patient education, and coordination of services.
- Advocate for patients and families to uphold patient rights.
- Train, coach, and assist team members to optimize patient care and resource utilization.

EDUCATION
- Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree Nursing.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Required: RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license. Upon Hire and
- Required: ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Upon Hire and
- Required: PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support If working in the following department: Nrsg Post Anesthesia Care Unit (600160). Upon Hire
- Preferred: OCN - Oncology Nurse Certification Upon Hire
- Preferred: Certification in specialty practice area. Upon Hire
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: All clinical nurses with less than one year of registered nurse (RN) work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program.
