Clinical Nurse- Endoscopy Center

SUMMARY
The primary purpose of the Clinical Nurse position with the Endoscopy Center is to coordinate and implement patient care across the continuum of care. The Outpatient Clinical Nurse:
Endoscopy Clinical Nurse

Utilizes objective and subjective assessment skills.

Utilizes critical thinking skills to recognize and solve patient problems.
-
Utilizes the nursing process and nursing standards to anticipate, prevent and manage actual/potential patient problem in the Endoscopy setting.
-
Identifies and participates in problem identification and resolution for patients, families and team.
-
Serves as a patient advocate.
-
Utilizes knowledge of age-specific care for patient age profiles including early, middle, and late adulthood.
-
Maintains a highly professional and positive attitude regardless of workload and stress level.
-
Communicate regularly and effectively with MD, Endoscopy Technologists, PSC and leadership members.
-
Participate in activities to increase and improve knowledge, nursing and Endoscopy skills.

Identify personal education and professional growth goals
-
Consistently provides reasonable, safe and responsible nursing care.
-
Mentors technical, new and clerical staff
-
Carries out charge nurse responsibilities in the absence of Assistant Nurse Manager.

Documents according to MDACC and JCAHO standards.
-
Reconciles allergy and mediation list as per policy > 95% of time
-
Collaborates/Leads unit process improvement projects and works with staff to define problem and develop a plan.

Supports and implements change to achieve identified team goals

Demonstrates competency of endoscopy procedures

Compliant with all mandatory unit and institution competencies

Inputs, retrieves and interprets data from multiple manual and computer-based information systems.

Exhibits professional and verbal and non-verbal communication skills.

Utilizes time in an efficient manner by completing assigned duties.

Performs procedures in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner.

Participates in meeting the educational needs of self and others.

Supports and implements change to achieve identified team goals.

Completes identified goals in the ePerformance evaluation system.

Is considerate of colleagues and co-workers.

Complete documentation requirements accurately and timely.

Identify and communicate problems to Assistant Nurse Manager, PC Nurse Manager and Clinical Administrative Director

Complies with all policies.

Completes all other clinical and administrative duties as assigned.
