The goal of UT MD Anderson, Keeling Center for Comparative Medicine and Research, is to eliminate cancer and allied diseases by developing and maintaining specialized programs in animal models, research and education. Our standard will be defined by quality of care and research service as well as compassion and respect for the needs of research animals.

The Campus Services Technician will provide primary support for delivery/courier services for the department to include weekly trips to the Texas Medical Center in Houston, along with other specially scheduled trips/destinations within Texas as needed. The Campus Services Technician will provide support for the departmental warehouse shipping/receiving and delivery process.

The ideal candidate for the Campus Services Technician role has a high school diploma or equivalent and must have a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air brakes endorsement. In addition, the candidate must have two years of experience in receiving, storing and handling goods and equipment. The candidate will have excellent communication skills, working knowledge of computers, and be a team player.

Salary Range: Minimum $41,000 – Midpoint $51,000 – Maximum $61,000
Typical work schedule: Monday-Friday, 8 A.M. - 5 P.M., onsite, Bastrop campus

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Transportation And Fleet Management Services   
Serves as primary delivery driver for Bastrop campus.
Makes weekly routine trips to MD Anderson – Houston as well as other institutions in the Texas Medical Center to deliver and pick up supplies.
Performs/assists with cargo loading/unloading procedures.
Makes specialty scheduled trips for the delivery of animals/supplies as needed.
Transports animals in accordance with regulations defined in the Animal Welfare Act, Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, and departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
Delivers feed, produce and supplies on campus as needed.
Cleans/sanitizes delivery vehicles and transport caging following use and maintains documentation.
Submits departmental mileage/maintenance records to Fleet Management according to schedule.
Provides light maintenance to include monitoring gas, oil levels, tire pressure checks, and cleaning/washing departmental vehicles as assigned.

Warehouse Operations  
Receives and stores feed, produce, and supplies, in accordance with SOP’s and maintains documentation.
Moves, relocates, arranges furniture, equipment, or supplies as assigned.     
Assists with feed and supply inventory management.
Inspects/cleans warehouse feed and supply storage areas as directed. 
Retrieves, sorts and distributes incoming mail, as needed.  
Schedules/coordinates package pickups with freight/delivery carriers as needed.

Receiving Operations/Property Control   
Responsible for receiving and visually checking shipments against packing slips for accuracy and completeness and notifies vendors of discrepancies. 
Accurately enters information into databases and the institutional purchasing/inventory control system.
Sorts, inspects and delivers freight to appropriate locations. 
Assigns/attaches Asset Tags to new equipment as applicable. 
Makes database entries notating equipment acquisitions/deletions/transfers.  

EDUCATION

  • Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Preferred: Two year college degree.

Licensure:

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Required: 2 years Receiving, storing and handling goods and equipment.
  • Preferred: Prior experience in warehouse, delivery process.
