Assistant Professor - SHP
The faculty is responsible for instructing and assessing didactic and clinical courses in the Medical Dosimetry Program’s curriculum. In addition, administrative duties will be assigned by the Program Director.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES Key Functions: Performs student instruction and clinical coordination to include:
• The faculty is responsible for instructing and assessing didactic, lab and clinical courses as assigned by the program director.
• Participates in programmatic (JRCERT) and regional (SASCOC) accreditation activities for the Medical Dosimetry Program as assigned by the program director.
• Participates in the continued evaluation of the Medical Dosimetry program
• Ensures course and program learning outcomes are delivered as defined by the syllabus
• Develops and maintains the treatment planning lab experience curricula to coincide with American Association of Medical Dosimetrist guidelines.
• Supervises, develops and instructs didactic course curricula within the School of Health Professions for the Medical Dosimetry Program
• Participates in the design and delivery of medical dosimetry workshops and recruitment initiatives.
• Other duties as assigned
Administrative Duties as Associate Program Director May Include All of The Following But Not Limited To:
• Participates in the student recruitment, selection and admission process.
• Assists in the preparation for and maintenance of program accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS)
• Supervises, develops, and instructs in the curriculum courses in the School of Health Professions, as assigned by the Program Director.
• Coordinates clinical instruction given by identified clinical preceptors (CP) at MD Anderson and affiliates as assigned by the Program Director.
• Serves as resource and mentor for students and staff in the clinical area as assigned by the Program Director.
• Serves as an extension of the Program Director by communicating effectively with staff, peers, director, and external and internal contacts.
• Coordinates student completion of clinical competencies and ensures all objectives are met during the period of the clinical rotation as assigned by the Program Director.
• Verifies the student has maintained accurate updated attendance and clinical experience documentation as assigned by the Program Director.
• Schedules clinical make-up hours for the student, as necessary, as assigned by the Program Director.
• Assigns grades for all students completing the clinical courses based on the criteria put forth in the syllabi
• Maintains accurate and complete documentation of clinical competencies for all students completing the clinical rotation components of the program as assigned by the Program Director.
• Ensures all students are following the guidelines of the student handbook and address issues which may arise as assigned by the Program Director.
• Plans and organizes activities for programmatic orientation and onboarding of new students as assigned by the Program Director.
• Liaise with the clinical sites to ensure student onboarding requirements and compliance including criminal background, health and immunization, drug testing as assigned by the Program Director.
• Assists with programmatic degree plan advisement and course audit, including verification of all graduation requirements and degree authorization.
• Tracks students’ clinical attendance and competency including, ensuring completion of clinical orientation, performance of regular updates of competency and evaluation records as assigned by the Program Director.
• Participates in advisory, curriculum and admissions committees and participate in the graduation ceremony
• Other duties as assigned by the program director.

Required Education:
• Master’s degree in any related area in healthcare or Education with a goal of obtaining a doctorate degree in any healthcare field or education within 4 years
• Graduated from a JRCERT-accredited Medical Dosimetry program.
• MDCB certified
Certification: CMD (Certification by the Medical Dosimetrists Certification Board (MDCB)
Required Experience:
Three years of recent clinical experience in the Medical Dosimetry. Academic or clinical research experience with respect to design, data collection, analysis and paper development to be able to mentor and advise students
