We are currently seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager for the Gynecologic Oncology Center. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in nursing and at least three years of clinical nursing experience. Prefer candidates with leadership experience.

Shift: typically, Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 5:00 pm (based on clinic needs) with some opportunity for remote work, but determined by clinic needs.   
Salary:  $111,000 – minimum $139,000 - midpoint $167,000 – maximum

Summary
The primary purpose of the Assistant Nurse Manager position is to assist in overall clinical operations, staff management, the coordination of patient care and customer services, and providing direct patient care as needed to support the center.  The Assistant Nurse Manager affects the patient care and daily operations of assigned patient care area.

Key Functions 
Utilizes clinical expertise to monitor and correlate acuity and patient profiles to area staffing needs, assignments, and budget.  Plans and evaluates area compliance with institutional/regulatory policies and procedures.  Formulates practical recommendations regarding daily operational procedures and practices.  Provides management assistance through the assurance of appropriate staffing, performance improvement activities, compliance with budgetary guidelines, and human resources processes.  Ensure scheduling and assignment/reassignment of staff meet the needs of the patient.  Participates in hiring and performance management of employees.  Contributes to the strategic and financial planning of the area.  Supports a high level of clinical competence and professional development for staff.  Provides direct patient care approximately 50% of the time. 

EDUCATION
Required: Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Preferred:  Master’s of Science in Nursing or related field.

EXPERIENCE
Required: Three years of clinical nursing experience. Successful completion of the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center New Graduate Nurse Residency Program can be substituted for two of the three required years of clinical nursing experience.
Preferred: Leadership experience. 

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
Preferred: OCN – Oncology Nursing Certification or specialty practice area. 
Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area.  

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
