Advertising Program Manager

The Advertising Program Manager supports the strategy, development, and execution of integrated marketing and advertising initiatives that advance the institution’s overarching strategic vision. This role is critical in supporting institutional priorities, with a strong focus on service line advertising, patient acquisition, brand awareness, event promotion, and fundraising efforts. By developing comprehensive marketing and advertising plans and tactics, the Marketing Program Manager ensures high impact support for key clinical and organizational growth objectives.
This position requires deep understanding of the institution’s advertising and marketing environment, including service line goals, market dynamics, and audience needs. The Advertising Program Manager works collaboratively across Marketing, External Advancement, Strategic Communications, and other partners within Institutional Advancement to deliver strategic, results driven programs. The role oversees external agency management, provides full budget oversight for assigned programs, and ensures high quality execution of campaigns. Additionally, this position is responsible for tracking and evaluating campaign performance, reporting outcomes, and informing future strategy.

Key Functions
Comprehensive Marketing and Advertising Campaigns and Programs
- Leads the strategy, development, and implementation of marketing programs to build brand awareness, drive targeted patient volume to key service lines, and support other institutional priorities. This includes program management, campaign measurement, ongoing optimizations, and reporting.
- Collaborates with colleagues across departments, divisions, and service line leaders to understand campaign goals and strategies, ensuring alignment and contributing as an advertising subject matter expert.
- Manages agency partners in the development and guidance of advertising strategy, media plans, messaging, creative development, and other components of comprehensive campaigns.
- Evaluates, monitors, and communicates advertising campaign results and effectiveness.
- Develops presentations, leads and participates in cross functional teams, manages projects and reporting for various stakeholders, and coordinates market research to support program plans.
- Provides direction to internal resources.
- Works closely with teams within Marketing and division wide committees to ensure promotion and protection of the MD Anderson brand, while monitoring tracking and analytics for all programs.
Project Management & Planning
- Determines and manages marketing and advertising needs and leads associated initiatives.
- Evaluates new media and marketing proposals based on institutional priorities, marketing objectives, market data, and emerging trends.
- Oversees agency partners in developing scopes of work, timelines, and key deliverables, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Implements and upholds MD Anderson brand standards and messaging guidelines. Ensures compliance with internal processes to properly protect and promote the brand.
Measurement
- Manages ROI processes by tracking program effectiveness and analyzing key metrics. Coordinates with agency partners and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate tracking mechanisms for offline and online media.
- Works with Brand Health and other teams, as needed, to capture confirmation processes and track key conversions.
- Reports metrics and analytical findings to stakeholders, ensuring insights are integrated into ongoing program strategy.
Budget & Vendor Management
- Develops and manages program budgets and collaborates with budget teams to ensure accurate vendor payments and budget reconciliation.
- Manages and participates in the RFP selection process for Marketing owned contracts, and participates as needed in other Institutional Affairs led RFPs.
- Oversees external agency relationships, including selection, contract management, and performance evaluation.
- Staff Management & Leadership Development
- Participates in selecting new team members.
- Mentors employees and colleagues by sharing business, marketing, and professional expertise.
- Attends departmental and team meetings and participates in internal and external professional development opportunities.
Provides additional marketing consultation and support as assigned.
EDUCATION
Required: Bachelor's Degree Marketing, Business, Communications, Advertising or related field.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required: Five years project management experience in marketing, communications and advertising.
