EDUCATION:
Certification in advance practice by appropriate certifying body such as the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or National Certification Corporation (NCC).
Master’s Degree in Nursing. MSN may be waived for applicants who obtained recognition as an Advance Practice Nurse from the State of Texas Board of Nursing (BON) prior to January 1, 2003.
Graduate education and related BNE authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and/or patient population.
LICENSURE:
Required
Current license and certification as defined by the ANCC, AANP or NCC for the Advance Practice Nurse.
Written authorization from the State of Texas Board of Nursing (BON) to function as an Advance Practice Registered Nurse.
May be required to have authorization for limited prescriptive authority by the State of Texas BON.
CERTIFICATION:
Current AHA BLS certification.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) if mandated by clinical service.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: A minimum of one year clinical experience as an APP in an inpatient setting or a minimum of two years clinical experience in an outpatient setting.
Preferred: One year experience as a clinical APP in medical oncology or related field.
