Clinical Operations are responsible for initiating, and monitoring equipment quality control activities for the Department of Imaging Physics (IP) and the Division of Diagnostic Imaging (DI).

This position will be in a department which has multiple office locations within TMC, and will oversee activity taking place in TMC and Houston Area Locations.  The ideal candidate should anticipate travel to non-TMC locations, as business need may require.

The primary role of the Imaging Physics Administrative Director is to:

  • Serve as the direct supervisor of the Medical Physicist Assistant (MPA) Operations Team, ensuring their performance; data gathering and reporting; project prioritization and support for all DI clinical areas in The Medical Center (TMC) and Houston Area Locations (HALs).

               ·    Facilitate and oversee daily quality assurance (QA) standards for all clinical imaging devices, working directly with IP Qualified Medical Physicist               (QMP) and Clinical Leadership.

  • Assist the IP Clinical Operations Director and IP Section Chiefs with DI clinical area expansion and project input, such as clinical imaging equipment review, area layout, safety protocols, and clinical space development.
  • Collaborate with Radiological Engineering in the form of service scheduling, support, and post-service follow-up.

The Administrative Director reports directly to the Imaging Physics Clinical Operations Director for clinical concerns, and the Imaging Physics Department Administrator for administrative duties.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

People Management and Leadership

MPA Operations Team

  • Manages MPA Operations Team, evaluating productivity, performance, training (safety and competency), and development needs.
  • Ensures MPA Operations Team compliance with safety trainings: Radiation Safety, MRI Safety, CPR, Department of Transportation, and others as assigned by the institution.
  • Oversight of MPA travel to HALs on behalf of periodic quality assurance testing and post service follow-ups.
  • Oversight of competency implementation, updating, and monitoring for MPA Operations Team.
  • Ensures coaching, counseling, and remedial training are available as needed, to ensure a successful, participating, productive and contributing team.
  • Ensure development opportunities are present for MPA Operations staff and encourage both individual and professional growth.
  • Responsible for recruitment, hiring, comprehensive orientation, establishing baseline competency requirements, and ongoing staff development, etc.
  • Manages staffing plans in support of stakeholder needs. Initiates recruitment needs based on staffing plan and budgeted expenses. Reviews vacant budgeted positions for necessity.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Management or related field.

Preferred degree: Master's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or Public Administration.

EXPERIENCE: Five years of section or department management experience or project management experience.

With preferred degree, 3 years of required experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.

Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate and/or LEADing Self Discover programs may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Completion of both programs can be substituted for a maximum of two years of supervisory or management experience. Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
