Accountant II
The mission of The University of Texas M. D. SUMMARY
The primary purpose of the Accountant II position is to monitor and support the Quantitative Imaging Analysis Core (QIAC) program. Provide accounting/analysis and management of department cost centers, personnel effort and research patient care charges. Prepares detailed audit reports, cost reports, etc., for departmental and divisional use. Reconciles Chartfields for QIAC that includes research related Funding groups.
Shift / Hours: Monday - Friday / 8:00am – 5:00pm
The ideal candidate will have great communication skills, and experience with Excel and Oracle.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Clinical Trial Financial Management Ensures timeliness and accuracy in all departmental service centers, clinical trial financial payments and monitoring, and communicates effectively with teams and if any concerns arise. Ensures all financial controls and audited best practices are followed and provides suggestions on how to improve processes. Keeps apprised of latest financial system reports and clinical research trials. Provide support for clinical trial studies including, but not limited to, maintaining overall income tracking spreadsheet for personnel, clinical trials, monitoring cash balances, reconciliation for close-out requests and facilitates ePAF requests for clinical research personnel. Submit documentation for department procurement and generate purchase orders for activities related to the functions in the Translational and Clinical Research Department as assigned. Initiate IDTs for payment related to the Quantitative Imaging Analysis Core (QIAC).
Reconciliation Develops and maintains procedures for the clinical research finance reconciliation and review and confirmation processes. Performs monthly reconciliation of departmental funds such as Clinical Research Funding Model (CRFM), Diagnostic Imaging research service centers (e.g QIAC). Participates in institutional audits and statistical sample reconciliation to ensure compliance and successful performance. Review PO, ensures PO deadlines are met and expenses are reallocated and captured appropriately with review and approval.
Report Preparation Responsible for providing monthly or ad hoc financial metrics for Research related activities and generate necessary reports for the financial management team meetings. Assist in monthly department and divisional financial reports. Performs special assignments as required and prepares detailed audit reports, cost reports, etc., for departmental and divisional use.
Auditing Audits financial transactions and documentation for accuracy and conformance with established Departmental, Business Office, System and State procedures, regulations and policies. Assembles, generates, and maintains files for auditing purposes from books/electronic systems of original entry. Controls records for use in the preparation of regular and special financial statements and other reports.
Data Analytics Use Microsoft Excel to provide/organize reports for departmental/divisional funds, with proficiency on Excel formulas and Pivot Tables. Ensure that data is accurate and review accounting data and transactions generated from various accounting systems. Audits financial transactions and documentation for accuracy and conformance with established Departmental, Business Office, System and State procedures, regulations and policies. Assembles, generates, and maintains files for auditing purposes from books/electronic systems of original entry. Controls records for use in the preparation of regular and special financial statements and other reports.

REQUIREMENTS
Education
Required: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field.
Preferred: Master's Level Degree
Experience
Required: Two years of accountant experience required with a Bachelor's in Business Administration or related field. One year of accountant experience required with a Bachelor's in Accounting. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
Preferred: Experience using PeopleSoft, Epic/OneConnect, and Excel.
